After a gruelling final day in which both wind and rain were sent to test everyone, Tony Edwards fittingly won the final race to clinch the 2014 IOM MYA Nationals.

The day started under grey skies with the forecast rain filling in after the 1st heat of the day, turning this final day in to a battle for many with water not only in their electrics but also inside their waterproofs!

​

The breeze was a strange East/ South Easterly that kept Peter Stollery on his toes and Graham Allen in the boat busy but the breeze did eventually move more South Easterly to give a fixed windward leeward course with a gate and the sterling efforts of the race team got the competitors through to race 13 by the end of play.

​

Racing was tight throughout the day with the top 3 skippers never more than a few points apart, who would crack 1st? Well the answer was nobody and it was still undecided going in to the last race. This could have been a tense affair had it not been for Tony Edwards calm and experienced head who secured things with a fine victory to leave Zvonko Jelacic and Brad Gibson to finish 2nd & 3rd overall.

The lower podium places were also to be decided with Ian Dundas holding off John Tushingham for 4th place by just 1 point. Well done to Ian who also took away the Novice Trophy for highest placed skipper never to have won the IOM Nationals.

​

At the prize giving the race team were thanked for their efforts and all competitors applauded them as they stood for a photo.

Special thanks were given to Peter Stollery for acting as PRO and Terry Rensch for his work in securing the venue and organising many of the aspects of the event. Thanks were also given to Guildford MYC for hosting the event for the MYA and providing much of the race team.
